Jazz Festival
On Friday evening, my dad got us VIP Sky Box tickets to the Jazz Festival in Hyatt Regency, Newport Beach. When we got there, we were ushered to a reception room. I took a platter and loaded it with fried rice, mini tacos, ravioli, barbecued short ribs, fresh salad, sashimi for my mom, grilled shrimp and a bottle of ice water. Just as I sat down between Kenny and my mom, the musicians started getting ready.
Soon a woman made an announcement and then the band started playing their first song, Jazz Blues. I felt the same way as my brother did, relaxed and listening to the music while enjoying the scrumptious food. The saxophone players were pros and I enjoyed hearing them do solos. We applauded after every song. As the intermission began, I stood up to get a mango parfait and creme brulee. It was luscious and sweet.
The music was beautiful and soft as a dove. My favorite part was the ruby red strawberries dipped in rich brown chocolate!

Stupid Criminals- Running On Empty
"A getaway car is no good if you can't get away. When officers responded to reports of a suspicious truck at the store, they found a vehicle in the parking lot with a stolen recliner in the back- and three suspects inside. Apparently the crooks hadn't noticed the truck was low on gas when they pulled into the parking lot. They ran out of gas when they tried to leave! The crooks were so shocked that they just sat there. These Guys weren't great planners. Officer David Duke says."

Fun Fact
If you never cut your hair, it could grow up to 30 feet, about as tall as a three story building in a lifetime.

Gleaning Harvest
On Saturday, we went to the Incredible Edible Park with the YMCA Dreamcatcher group to for the poor. Along the way, we got lost trying to find the park. When we finally reached the park, we found out that the park was covered with rows of lettuce, strawberry plants and more rows of dirt. First, I started pulling bunches of lettuce out of the ground and stacking them in large green crates. It was a good thing we brought plastic gloves! Surprisingly, after a while most of the people's hands were covered with blisters. Ours weren't! My friend and I filled lots of crates with fresh lettuce. Some of the lettuce were twisty and they were really tall while others were small and plump. Soon after the crates were loaded onto a truck, we went to plant bean seeds. A few boys were there digging holes in the ground with very fat, wood poles. We dropped a pink bean into each hole and covered them with dirt. It was fun dropping the seeds into the tiny holes. It was sort of like the game Clothespins in a Bottle. After a few rows were layered with holes and beans, I ran back to the fields just in time to pick fresh strawberries. I quickly plucked the ruby red strawberries off the plants and dropped them into a fresh, new, plastic glove. The farmer said we could keep the strawberries. I was so happy and the strawberries were scrumptious! As the people left one by one, I handed them a warm, homemade, chocolate chip cookies. Some people had seconds! One of those people were me! I had a really fun time at the Gleaning Harvest. I was proud of myself helping the poor.
